Interview Questions
Why did you pick this trade, in particular?
I am not the photographer who always had a passion for photography. I couldn't tell you at 5 that this is what I would be doing, like many other artists can. I always knew that my life would include some form of creativity, but figuring out the path to what medium I enjoyed did not come naturally to me. While pursuing my undergraduate degree for Graphic Design, we were required to take Intro to Photography in order to graduate. This was a class I wanted nothing to do with, it did not come easy to me, I did not understand it. It wasn't until I had to stay in another Graphics Class that things changed. That professor happened to ask me "How do you like your photography class?" in which I responded "I'm just happy if I pass." Little did I know at that moment that this professor had a passion for photography and offered to take me and a friend out and teach us the basics. 1 Hour. 1 Hour of his time teaching me the basics of how to work a camera. From that moment on, I not only passed Intro to Photography, but enrolled in a 2-year professional photography program and now work full time as a commercial photographer.
Not everyone of our ideas succeeds……have you had any idea that has failed? If yes, what did you do to pick yourself back up?
I am a creative and an idealistic person. I have a new idea every other day, and if you talk to me about one of yours, I will dive right in and go down a rabbit hole. For me, it's less important about the idea of succeeding or failing but surrounding yourself with people who support the journey you are on. I don't usually look at something as a failure but something to try and enjoy the journey. If you find at least one person to listen and support your crazy ideas, the rollercoaster ride feels a bit more stable. Having that one person is the "pick me up" which is a hard person to find but makes a world of difference.
Do you have any pets?
I have one dog named Zoey. Zoey is a Lhasa Apso, and if you've never heard of the breed, I won't hold it against you. She is basically a slightly bigger and more stubborn Shih Tzu.
What is your favorite dessert?
Warm Cookie with Vanilla Ice Cream or Lemon cake. Neither of these are similar at all but both are solid options.
If you would pick traveling the world or getting 1 million dollars, which one would you pick and why?
Traveling the world is not something that has ever appealed to me in its entirety. There's a few places on my bucket list I would enjoy seeing but they aren't the end all for me. I would choose to have enough money to be financially set and live a simple life with a few less worries to enjoy creating and building on the ideas that excite me. I would much rather create something than see something.
